This talk and workshop center on Illegally Well: A Journey Through Borderless Time,Ìýa graphic ethnography by Elizabeth Rubio and Bo Thai that uses speculative fiction to examine how undocumented people relate to time. The novel's main argument is that a lack of papers forces undocumented young people to live lives that are in constant deference to the future, therefore challenging their ability to develop a relationship to the present. During this particularly difficult time in immigrant justice worlds, it is meant to serve as a resource to help undocumented students and activists alike maintain a relationship to the present, even and especially as they fight for different futures.Ìý
