Student Flourishing Initiative
ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ launched the Student Flourishing Initiative to strengthen our ongoing campuswide commitment to student mental health and wellness. Announced by Chancellor Justin Schwartz in March 2025, this initiative aims to strengthen collaborative, comprehensive, and effective programs and policies that both mitigate risk and promote student flourishing. The initiative is expected to result in a set of recommendations for specific implementation actions and a collaborative plan for assessing impact over time.Ìý
Our Team
The initiative is chaired by Sona Dimidjian, Director of the Renée Crown Wellness Institute and Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, D'Andra Mull, Vice Chancellor of Student Life, and Ann Schmiesing, Senior Vice Chancellor of Strategic Initiatives and Professor of German and Slavic Languages. It brings together faculty, staff, and students from across campus and includes a formal partnership with The Jed Foundation (JED), a national nonprofit focused on protecting emotional health and preventing suicide.Ìý
At the heart of this effort is a commitment to center the voices and needs of students. A ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Student Voice and Leadership Council will provide strategic input through ongoing focus groups and dialogue with undergraduate and graduate students. You can find more information about the Council here.Ìý
