BOULDER, CO — Roughly 90 students, alumni, faculty, and staff gathered at the ��ñ��’s Kittredge Central Hall for the annual CU on Coursera Open House. This interdepartmental networking event is designed to connect online learners from CU on Coursera’s graduate programs, including the Master of Engineering in Engineering Management (ME-EM), Computer Science (MS-CS), Electrical and Computer Engineering (MS-ECE), as well as the Master of Science degrees in Artificial Intelligence (MS-AI).

Who: ME-EM, MS-ECE, MS-DS, MS-CS, MS-AI on Coursera current & prospective students, faculty, staff, course facilitators, ODE Associate Dean, staff.

The event began with a welcome and keynote by Associate Dean for Digital Education Wendy Martin. Martin shared strategies and tips with students on how to get the most out of their degree, with an emphasis on their skills, relationships, energy, and evidence as they progress through their learning.

“Online education is powerful because it allows people to invest in themselves without stepping away from their careers or their lives. A degree is an important milestone, but the real value is what students carry forward: the skills they build, the relationships they develop, and the confidence to use what they have learned to create impact in their organizations and communities,” Martin said.

Students had the opportunity to engage in six different breakout sessions, with topics including the infrastructure of AI, engineering leadership in the age of AI, and a Course Facilitator Q&A where learners could ask their Course Facilitators questions in person they often have to send via email. This milestone event brought together a diverse and global community of graduates who have demonstrated dedication, perseverance and excellence throughout their journey.

Bringing an online learning community into a shared physical space isn’t always easy, but when it happens, the impact is undeniable. On April 9, the graduate degree programs on Coursera from the ��ñ�� did just that during CU on the Road in the Bay Area, California.

Program Advisors and Faculty from the ME-EM, ME-ECE, MS-DS, MS-AI, and MS-CS programs traveled from ��ñ�� to connect with students in person, all of whom typically engage with their coursework fully remote. The event welcomed more than 40 students, and offered a unique opportunity to step into a space centered on conversation and community building.

Throughout the evening, students had the chance to meet their peers face-to-face, connect directly with faculty and program staff, and share their experiences in the program. Conversations ranged from academic interests and career goals to the challenges and rewards of balancing graduate study with professional and personal commitments. These exchanges highlighted the strength and diversity of the CU on Coursera student community.

While CU on Coursera degree programs are designed with flexibility and accessibility in mind, meeting face-to-face allowed for deep connection and meaningful conversations. We were inspired by the dedication and engagement of our students, and are grateful for the chance to build community together.

On April 9, the University of Colorado’s degrees on Coursera graduate programs met with students during CU on the Road in the Bay Area, California.

��ñ��’s Lockheed Martin Engineering Management Program (EMP) is proud to host a major industry conference in Denver this week. The American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM) 2023 International Annual Conference and 44th Annual Meeting will occur from October 25, 2023, until through October 28, 2023, and draws managers, executives, and academics from across North America and internationally. A wide range of topics will be covered throughout its duration, including workshops, keynote speakers, and panelists. The uUniversity is hosting this event and boasts a substantial representation of the department from its faculty and staff.

Among the fifteen EMP faculty and staff members who will be involved in this event, seven are presenting their research and publications. Dr. Keith Molenaar, the Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, will discuss “Educating our Engineering Workforce in the Rapidly Changing Context of Higher Education,” which will cover the current state of higher education and describe how universities and engineering organizations must work together to meet our future workforce needs. Furthermore, the ASEM ��ñ�� chapter will actively participate as event staff, ensuring seamless execution of the conference. This chapter plans coordinates, and hosts various events to improve engineering students' professional development and introduce them to management concepts within the engineering industry, which will undoubtedly contribute to the event's overall success. More than 80 students, community members, and guests gathered at the ��ñ��'s Discovery Learning Center this evening for an open house. The interdepartmental networking event was specifically tailored for online learners in the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MS-EE), Master of Engineering in Engineering Management (ME-EM), Master of Science in Data Science (MS-DS), and Master of Science in Computer Science (MS-CS) programs.

"This event provided valuable insights into the program's structure and connected me with professors who offered invaluable guidance for my research project," shared one engineering management graduate student.

These unique graduate programs offered by ��ñ��, accessible through the Coursera learning platform, present a rare opportunity for learners worldwide to attain fully accredited master’s degrees from a top-tier institution, irrespective of their academic credentials. Featuring a flexible, pay-as-you-go tuition structure and simplified admissions criteria based on performance in three "pathway" courses, these degrees are breaking down barriers and, expanding access to graduate education beyond the confines of traditional university boundaries.
