If you are a student looking for opportunities to get involved on campus, represent their peers, and help shape the ��ñ�� student experience, consider running for CU Student Government (CUSG). Fellow IAFS students are already active in CUSG, including Internal Affairs Student Body President Rowan Hillhouse (IAFS & ECON) and CUSG Assistant Election Commissioner Susie Wood (IAFS & SOCY).

Interested students can submit their name to run for Representative-at-Large by October 19. Voting for the fall CUSG election opens November 2 and closes November 13.

My name is Susie Wood, and I am the Assistant Election Commissioner for CU Student Government (CUSG). As we prepare for this fall’s CUSG election, I want to encourage dedicated CU students to consider running for office.

This fall, students will be voting for Representative-at-Large on CUSG’s Legislative Council. Legislative Council meets every Thursday evening to discuss issues affecting campus, write legislation, and vote on matters that are important to the CU student body. CUSG also has the responsibility of allocating more than $37 million in student fees each year, giving student representatives a meaningful opportunity to shape the future of CU.

We want to see as many qualified, passionate students as possible run for office. CU’s student body is incredibly diverse, and we want our candidates to reflect the wide range of experiences, perspectives, and priorities across campus.

I chose to get involved with CUSG because I wanted an active role in the ��ñ�� community, which I now am proud to call my home. Although I’ve only worked with CUSG for a short time, what I’ve enjoyed most is realizing that student government isn’t stuffy or about titles but about having the opportunity to do something with the issues I see.

Please consider running for office this semester because you don’t have to come in with all the answers. You just have to care, be willing to listen, and want to represent the people around you. There is so much that CU students care about, and our government and democratic process is strongest when those different perspectives are heard!

Planning for CWA 2027 has begun, and you can get involved today! IAFS students have opportunities to help shape conversations, topics, and programming for this year's conference. The official theme for the 2027 Conference on World Affairs will center on a question that invites unique perspectives from across campus: "What does it mean to live well—to not merely survive, but to flourish?"

Students looking to help plan CWA 2027 can get involved today by attending weekly program committee meetings set to shape event programming, outreach, and more. Register your interest in volunteering by filling out the CWA Volunteer Interest Form for more information.

Interns will be working directly with legislators and stuff on communications, legislative analysis, policy research, constituent services, and more. This internship gives students the unique opportunity to observe how state governments operate and interact with varying levels of issues that impact Colorado and its citizens. On Saturday, February 21, the Fairview Speech and Debate team will be hosting the Fairview Fling!

Fairview High School is located about ten minutes away from the University of Colorado on the Skip line at 1515 Greenbriar Blvd.

Regardless of if you carry previous judging experience or not, all students are able to participate! With just 5 minutes of training you can be eligible to judge several events.

Students will be competing in a wide variety of events including interpretation of humor, creative storytelling, policy debate, and debate on current events. Judges are needed from 8am until 7pm, but time commitments are flexible and students are not required to stay for the full duration of the event. Volunteer hours and payment are available for participating students.
