PLC Alumni Newsletter - The December 2025 Edition

Ìý
Hello, and welcome to another PLC alumni newsletter! This is our final newsletter for the semester and there's so much to catch you all up on, we can't wait to share what our incredible community and the PLC family has been getting up to since the start of the semester, so without further ado let's get into it!
The Family Tree Initiative
Family Tree and Fall Retreat

Ìý
Starting off with perhaps our biggest change this semester was our new PLC Family Tree Initiative and Family Tree Championship. This was introduced this year at our new ALL COMMUNITY Fall Retreat, replacing our first year fall retreat, to help bring PLC together more as a collective community and form inter-cohort bonds. PLCers were put into "families" with people from every cohort. In PLC, something that we really try to emphasize is that we are a community of leaders, strengthened by our collective ideology to improve our world, so we felt it was more crucial for students to be close and together with the entire community and organization, rather than just their individual cohorts, and to overall increase their sense of belonging in our program. Another thing we've introduced this year along with our Family Tree" was also our Family Tree Championship, where families would also compete throughout the semester to earn merit points or the title of Champion Family! Merit points were earned based on family activities listed on our monthly "Family Tree Bingo". So far, bingo activities included attending PLC Game Night, community dinners, and sunset and cheese, among other activities! Stay tuned to see which family takes home the title of our first ever champion family!
Student Initiatives
Industry Nights + Workshops

Another highlight this semester has been our Industry Nights and our various workshops. This has proven to be one of our strongest semesters engagement wise for PLC!Ìý
Industry Nights are incredibly crucial to PLC, as it provides students a chance to network and learn about industries and professions they might be interested in, both as a student and as a leader. So far, we have hosted 3 successful Industry Nights: Future Forward, Engineering, and Business and we have so many more planned for spring!Ìý
Additionally, students also have the opportunity to learn some valuable interpersonal skills for Industry Nights and future careers as well through our professional development workshops! This semester, students received the opportunity to participate in a Networking and LinkedIn/Resume workshop.

Service Initiatives

One of our prime pillars in PLC is a commitment to service, and to this day, we still strive to uphold that pillar to its highest degree. This semester, we've had many service opportunities, including PB&Lovin, STEM Mentors, Boulderthon, and many more! So far, we've amassed more than 278.5 hours of service, and that number is only bound to increase in the coming semester. We're incredibly proud of our PLCers to still showing that since our establishment in 1972, we still continue to prioritize service and the betterment of our community.Ìý
Leadership Swap
For the second year in a row, PLC led the initiative for a student leadership swap with other local colleges across Colorado. Last year, we've swapped with CU Colorado Springs, and this year we were able to organize a swap with the Colorado Leadership Alliance with Colorado State University! It was such a great and valuable experience, and we hope to do it again next year!
Ìý
Deep Dives
Deep Dives, previously called "Experiential Learning Opportunities", have been at the forefront as one of PLC's many development opportunities, as it strives to gives PLCers the opportunity to investigate and apply their knowledge as leaders in real-world issues and rising ideas.
This year has been no exception. So far, we've been able to host 2 deep dives this semester: one on the rising AI revolution and its relevancy in our present and future, and the other on mass incarceration in Colorado. Both were a massive success according to both current PLCers and our Deep Dive coordinators, and we can't wait to see what is to come in the future!
Alumni Initiatives
Think Tanks
This semester, we've started Think Tanks! You might've heard something similar before as Think and Drinks, but now we have a revamped version of it! In Think Tanks, we focus heavily on virtual engagement, by allowing alumni to network and exchange ideas in recitation-style discussions. Our first think tank was a huge success, and we can't wait for future think tanks! Stay tuned to find out about future think tanks if you want to be involved as well!

Ìý
Fundraising Efforts
This semester, our incredible alumni and our alumni Board of Advocates has been able to fundraise a lot of money for some of our upcoming initiatives. So far, we've raised enough money for more in-depth deep dives, renovations for our PLC Student Staff Office, scholarship funds, and even for all of our families participating in our family tree to get their own community dinner! Once again, all of this would not be possible without your continued support and investment into our program, and we want to deeply acknowledge our efforts and assure you that we are grateful to you all for that.
Thank you so much for tuning into another Alumni Newsletter! We greatly appreciate everyone who reads as well as your time, talent, and treasure that you all provide to PLC.Ìý
Until next time!
