My name is James Cecchi, a photographer and videographer dedicated to capturing movement at its most powerful and precise. I work across both photo and video, using each medium to tell a different side of the story. Photography allows me to freeze peak moments right when everything comes together. Video lets me expand beyond that instant to show the full line and environment, building a sense of flow that places the viewer right inside the action. By combining both disciplines, my work highlights not only the defining moments, but also the progression, style, and atmosphere that make life so compelling.

In the Zone

A short film showing Colorado’s recent lack of snowfall, this story dives into the visible and unseen impacts on the backcountry. Sparse snowpack has reshaped familiar terrain, shortened seasons, and challenged the rhythms that skiers, riders, and mountain communities depend on. Through quiet moments and stark landscapes, the film captures loss and adaptation how people continue to seek out turns, even in a year defined by scarcity.
At its core, the film is also a call to awareness. Changing winters are not just an inconvenience; they reflect broader environmental shifts that demand attention and action. By highlighting the connection between climate, recreation, and livelihood, it encourages viewers to think beyond a single season.
Despite it all, there remains a deep resilience in finding lines where there are few, getting out there when it counts, and holding onto the culture of skiing while pushing for meaningful change to protect its future.
