Chrissy NelsonÌýis a dance artist, physical therapist, certified Pilates instructor, and movement educator. Her current research involves waiting. And weighting. And trying to recall moments from Spring Vacation 2006 while staying present in today. Influenced deeply by Movement Fundamentals, and its founder, Jane Hawley, Nelson has taught and facilitated CI at EarthDance, Contact Improvisation Iowa, Luther College, and the Texas Dance Improvisation Festival. She is the Undergraduate Director of Dance at CU-Boulder where she teaches Dance Improvisation, Choreography, Contemporary Technique, and Injury Risk Reduction, and facilitates the Theater & Dance Wellness Program. In addition to her teaching, Chrissy also directs The Field | Boulder, has collaborated frequently with sound and visual artists, and has produced original works in PA, NY, IA and CO. In Nelson's most recent evening-length work Loose Gravel (2023), the artists navigated the rocky terrain of shifting from rock concert to boxing match to chasing fireflies.
Chrissy received her MFA in Dance from CU-Boulder (2013) and her MPT and BSS from Ohio University (1998, 1995).
