Megan Tasha Schiffres is a media scholar and former investigative journalist. Her research focuses on journalism ethics, advocacy journalism, and journalism history. She studies ways to transform news into a useful resource for civic engagement and community unity, with a focus on empowering audiences to take action when they read a story that moves them. Her thesis, Actionable Advocacy Journalism: Rejecting Objectivity and Empowering Audiences with Calls to Action, was presented at two AEJMC conferences in 2026. At the SINGS Lab, she studies how fact-checkers debunk AI-generated disinformation.
