Interested in hiring a student for internship credit?Ìý
Guidelines:
- Internships must provide work experience clearly related to the students academic goals and prior course work.
- Internships for credit must include an academic component which involves reflection and analysis with regard to how the concepts the student has learned in the sponsoring discipline apply to the experimental nature of the internship.
- A typically three credit internship is 120 hours over the course of the semester, or 10 hours/week.
- A single credit hour must be earned from 40 hours of total work per semester
- Interns can be paid, unpaid, or partially paid
- CINE interns are typically paid minimum wage or more
- If the internship will be unpaid --- the intern must be the primary beneficiary of the agreement. I.E. students must be receiving experience that is worth more than what they would be paid. See for further explanation.Ìý
Employer Responsibilities:
Employers must sign the internship agreement. View here. The student must initiate the agreement.
- Provide the necessary orientation, training, precautionary safety instructions, and supervision in the performance of the position duties and responsibilities on this agreement.
- Understand the responsibility for providing Workers’ Compensation and liability insurance in accordance with Colorado state law, and agree to provide said coverage if student is paid.
- Complete a final written evaluation of the student’s performance during the placement and send it to the faculty sponsor listed on the application
