Local Government and Community Engagement
The Local Government and Community Engagement team focuses on strengthening relationships with local government entities, community organizations and business partners to advance economic vitality, civic engagement and sustainability.Ìý
The team collaborates with local governments, school districts, nonprofit organizations and chambers of commerce to partner on key initiatives. Key initiatives include CU’s Buy Local program and the CU Community Scholars internship program. They also host town halls and information sessions about campus infrastructure projects that may impact nearby residents as well, and consistently communicate with community members in areas including the Hill, Goss Grove, Martin Acres, and downtown Boulder.

I’m so honored to be featured in the latest edition of the ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ College of Communication, Media, Design and Information Magazine, for the role I played on behalf of CU, helping bring the Sundance Film Festival to Boulder.Ìý
This project—working alongside leaders from the City of Boulder, university, Visit Boulder, the Boulder Chamber, and the broader community—was especially meaningful as a CU alum. Thanks to Lori Bergen, Ryan Huff and the CMDI team for sharing part of my journey, dating back to my days as a CU Journalism student. (And bravo for the clever play on my last name—the best I have seen! 😊)
ÌýWe’re so excited to bring the Sundance Institute to campus and the broader Boulder community in Jan 2027!
I appreciated the Downtown Boulder Partnership (DBP) Candidate forum, providing an opportunity for city council and mayoral candidates to share their perspectives on issues. It’s great to attend these programs with fellow DBP board members Casey Easton, Craig Moelis, and Ann Klein. And thanks to the strong facilitation by Ashley Legan, Katie Olson, and Andrea Meneghel!
As part of its 150th anniversary, the ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ partnered with Keith Outcelt and the Aurora History Museum on its “Proclaiming Colorado’s Black Historyâ€ exhibit—bringing together members of the community, and CU alumni, faculty, staff, and students.Ìý
Keynote speaker CU Prof. Reiland Rabaka provided important and insightful remarks, reflecting back and looking forward, to highlight the program. Thanks to local leaders who joined the event, including City of Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman and Councilmembers Amy Wiles, MNM and Gianina Horton, Aurora Public Schools Superintendent Michael Giles Jr., Retired City of Arvada Councilmember Mark McGoff, Retired Judge Gary Jackson, and lead curator of the exhibit Adrian Miller, CSP.
