Policies:

  • All users who wish to continue access to Tim White’s lab will send an email requesting access with their name, group and department affiliation, CU Identikey, expected year of graduation, expected biological or chemical hazards if relevant, and specific instruments they want to use to rpm.pomc@colorado.edu and cc their PI.
  • Users should reach out when any of these changes, including new chemicals. Users will request access this way for each new instrument. Users not using the lab at least once every year will be removed from the user list and will need to request access again.
  • All university users will be charged on a per monthly per instrument basis for any use of RPM POMC instruments specified in the annual RBSA document. All external users will be charged on an hourly or per-sample basis with rates specified in the RPM POMC quote document. Please verify with RPM POMC personnel regarding annual rates and instruments that will be charged.
  • All users will request instrument time by emailing rpm.pomc@colorado.edu. Frequent users may be given calendar editing privileges to be approved on a case-by-case basis. Users will receive training on RPM instruments and then receive access to view the instrument calendars.
  • Any user operating an instrument without booking time will lose access to the lab immediately for a time interval at the discretion of Tim White. Any instrument misuse will result in an email to the user’s PI and Tim White notifying them of the incident or suspected incident. Access to the lab is a privilege and users may lose access at any time without warning if they misuse instruments/lab resources or leave a mess in the lab for others to clean up. Any damage to an instrument by a user will result in their PI handling and paying for expedited repair/replacement. Their PI must sign off they understand this prior to the user accessing the lab.
  • Instruments will be used during normal working hours and any use that requires additional hours will need to be approved of by Tim White on a case-by-case basis. If a user is approved for after-hours access by Tim White, users will be shown where the lockbox and code with the key to the lab is located. Users are responsible for locking the lab following after hours use and failure to do so may result in losing access to the lab at the discretion of Tim White.
