Graduate Program
The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) at the ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs focused on the study of human communication and its disorders. Graduate programs include professional degrees in speech-language pathology (MA-SLP) and audiology (AuD), a research-focused Master of Arts (MA), and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in speech, language, and hearing sciences, with opportunities for interdisciplinary study in neuroscience and cognitive science.
Through a combination of academic coursework, research, and hands-on clinical experiences, students explore the processes underlying speech, language, and hearing, as well as the assessment and treatment of communication disorders. The department’s professional programs prepare students to pursue credentials such as the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), Colorado state licensure, and, where applicable, Colorado Department of Education credentials for practice in public schools.
Students benefit from a wide range of clinical education opportunities in schools, hospitals, and healthcare settings throughout the Boulder–Denver metropolitan area, gaining valuable experience working with diverse populations across the lifespan.
